For the most part photography is viewed as a way to preserve memories and a physical item to hold on to for posterity. I love looking through the few old photographs from my own family and truly appreciating how they lived their lives at that time.
I stumbled across this quote the other day from one of my favourite authors and wanted to share it.
“It is a cruel, ironical art, photography. The dragging of captured moments into the future; moments that should have been allowed to be evaporate into the past; should exist only in memories, glimpsed through the fog of events that came after. Photographs force us to see people before their future weighed them down....” ― Kate Morton, The House at Riverton
